Embark, on a 7 day adventure on Mount Kilimanjaro starting at the Shira Gate and making your way to the Uhuru Peak passing through a variety of stunning landscapes. Kick off your journey with a hike from Moshi to Simba Camp progressing through heath and moorland as you adjust to the altitude at Shira 2 Camp. Climb up via Lava Tower to experience the Senecio Forest and reach Barranco Camp, where acclimatization will help you along your expedition. Conquer the Barranco Wall to arrive at Karanga Camp then continue on to Barafu Camp for summit preparations. A tough night ascent leads you to Uhuru Peak in time for a sunrise view followed by a descent through arctic and rainforest zones before reaching Mweka Camp and concluding your trek at Mweka Gate with a descent back to Moshi. This adventure blends physical endurance, with the wonder of Kilimanjaros landscape.

Itinerary

Our journey kicks off from Moshi towards Londorossi Gate. Upon arrival we'll handle the entry procedures while our guides and porters get all the equipment ready. From there we ascend along a trail to reach Shira Gate marking the starting point of our hike. The trek commences, amidst shrubs. Towering plants until we reach our destination, at Simba Camp.

Day two of our journey takes us from Simba Camp to Shira 2 Camp. It's a day aimed at helping us acclimatize to the altitude. We start by wandering through the grassy moorland and admiring the rock formations scattered across the plateau. Our path then leads us to the Shira Cathedral, a rock formation encircled by towering spires and peaks before we finally reach our destination, at Shira 2 Camp.ay 2. Moving from Simba Camp to Shira 2 Camp

We journey eastward along a ridge before turning towards the Lava Tower, a 300 foot volcanic rock structure. Our descent leads us to Barranco Camp passing through the unique and captivating Senecio Forest at an elevation of 13,000 feet. Despite starting and finishing the day at the height the extended time spent at altitudes greatly aids in acclimatization.

On the day of our journey we start by making our way into a deep ravine at the foot of the impressive Barranco Wall. Following that we ascend a climb of 900 feet, which while challenging does not require technical climbing skills. Once we reach the summit of the Barranco Wall we traverse a series of hills and valleys before descending into the Karanga Valley. After another demanding trek we arrive at Karanga Camp. Todays trek is intentionally shorter to help us adjust to the altitude

On the day of our journey we trek from Karanga Camp, to Barafu Camp. We pass the junction that links us to the Mweka Trail and ascend towards the terrain leading to Barafu Hut. This marks the completion of the Southern Circuit providing views of the summit from perspectives. Here we set up camp take a break and have a dinner in preparation, for summit day. From this vantage point we can admire both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks in the distance

On the day of the trek we journeyed from Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak. Then, on to Mweka Camp. The challenging nighttime climb up Mount Kilimanjaro involved braving winds and cold temperatures. As we ascended in the dark we eventually reached Stella Point at an elevation of 18,900 feet, where we witnessed a sunrise over Mawenzi Peak. Uhuru Peak stands proudly as the point in Africa. The descent to Mweka Hut camp included a lunch break, at Barafu. Navigating a path that tested our knees prompting the use of trekking poles. In the afternoon mist or rain might shroud Mweka Camp in the forest area. Wrapping up with a dinner and some needed rest this adventure encapsulated both the breathtaking scenery and physical challenges of conquering Mount Kilimanjaro.
Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak

Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

On the day of our journey we trek from Mweka Camp down to Mweka Gate where we receive our summit certificates. The terrain may be damp and muddy as we descend to altitudes. After reaching the gate we proceed for another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will be waiting for us at the village to take us back, to the hotel, in Moshi.
